Of course that means that we need to put new things out there and that is the subject of this notice. We have compiled a Land Cover Statistics Database which lists the area of the various land cover categories found in each state, EPA federal Region, and for the entire lower 48. Be advised that these numbers were derived from raw pixel counts and are provided without error estimates. The error estimates will be provided in the future. Also, we now have a map showing the status of Landsat 7 acquisitions for the next national mapping effort (NLCD2001). SOON we will provide gifs and jpgs of each state and region. Update on the Accuracy Assessments: The the photo interpretation for the AAs in EPA regions 10 (Pacific NW) and 5 (Great Lakes Region) is complete and we now need to 'crunch the numbers'. Selection of the sample sites for region 7 (central plains) is complete and we are now acquiring the digital ortho photo quads. Regions 6,8 and 9 are still pending. Update on the CDs. We have just completed the metadata for the remaining state files and so are closer to being able to offer all the states on CDs. We're still looking at sometime this spring for release of the remaining CDs. There are over 550 of you.
