FACULTY POSITION IN ENVIRONMENTAL/WATER RESOURCES ENGINEERING The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Marquette University in Milwaukee (WI) invites applications for a tenure- track position in the area of Environmental/Water Resources Engineering. The position is expected to begin in Fall of 1999 and will be filled at the level of assistant professor; candidates qualified for a higher rank will also be considered Applicants with qualifications in one or more areas of urban hydrology and hydraulics, water resources, groundwater engineering, water quality and watershed management are invited to apply. Applicants must have completed a B.S. degree in civil engineering and Ph.D. in Civil and/or Environmental/Water Resources Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate students and conduct research in his/her area of expertise. The candidate should either possess or be on a track of obtaining a Professional Engineering License. The Department has approximately 240 undergraduate and over 60 graduate (MSc and PhD) students, with nearly half of them interested in environmental/water resources engineering. Research funding in the Department is at a level of about $1.5 million annually, of which half is in the environmental area. Research in concentrated in the Water Quality Center and newly established and well funded interdisciplinary Institute on Urban Environmental Risk Management. The civil/environmental engineering program at Marquette University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Marquette University is a Jesuit, independent, co-educational urban university located in Milwaukee (WI), a city on the shores of Lake Michigan. The metropolitan area has a population of about 1.3 million. Milwaukee has a rich diversity of cultural opportunities including art, ethnic festivals, recreation and professional sports.
