Simply rebooting with the printer attached, without changing the
BIOS settings at all, enabled "/dev/lp0".  I did note that the BIOS
was set for a Plug-and-Play OS, with the parallel port enabling set
to "Auto" (meaning it would be left to PnP rather than set by the
BIOS).  Is rebooting really necessary, or is there something I could
run to cause the detection?

Now that I have the printer queue configured, I'm getting an
entirely different error when sending anything to the queue:

	Status: IF filter 'mf_wrapper' filter msg - 'closed
	*main::KID3
[...]

It appears it's time for another search of the documentation...
