It encourages intellectual exchange on policy applications on common property issues by encouragin the exchange of knowledge among diverse disciplines, areas, and resource types; fosters mutual exchange of scholarship and practical experience; and promotes appropriate institutional design that is appropriate for sustainability. Additional information about the IASCP including information about our 1998 Vancouver conference is available on our home page . The IASCP membership year is on a fiscal year basis (1 July -30 June). Applications received before December 1, 1997 will be effective for the 1997/1998 fiscal year. IASCP now requires membership dues from institutions as well as from individuals. Institutional memberships are non-voting. Please fill out all applicable lines of the membership form and return with the appropriate remittance. Dues are US $30.00 for members above US $15,000 per year, and US $8.00 for members with incomes below that level. This payment supports Association activities, your subscription to the Common Property Resource Digest, and will entitle you to the member's registration rate at IASCP Conferences. It is now possible to make payment by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover), and we encourage members who do not have US$ checking accounts to use that method of payment. However, we must pay a substantial commission on credit card transactions and devote disproportionately more bookkeeping time to processing these payments, so we want to discourage members who do have access to US currency from using credit card payment. We encourage members who must pay in non-US currency to use credit cards, because this eliminates currency conversion fees and bank fees for both the member and the IASCP. Payments by check should be payable to IASCP and be denominated in US dollars and drawn on US banks. Checks drawn on Canadian international banks are fine as long as the amount is specified in US dollars and clearing information or a correspondent bank relationship in the US is indicated. For example, Svenska handles bank checks specify "Drawee Bank: Chase Manhattan Bank NA." The State Bank of India and many other major banks have similar relationships with US banks. International bank money orders (such as Barclay's) and international postal money orders are also acceptable, as long as the amount is specified in US dollars. If your situation prevents you from remitting payment by any of the above methods, but you wish to continue your membership, please indicate that on the form and write a brief explanation on the form. (Article IIA of the Bylaws provides for the possibility of "in-kind" payments as an alternative to payment in money). In this instance, we will carry you on the membership records as a member for this membership year. We expect that you will submit payment if your situation changes or if you are able to travel to the general meeting. If you need a receipt for your records or for reimbursement, please check the space provided on the bottom of the membership form. Your participation in and financial support of the Association is appreciated! I look forward to seeing you at the 1998 Annual Meeting, June 10-14, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Sincerely, Michelle Curtain, IASCP Secretary-Treasure IASCP MEMBERSHIP FORM (membership year 1 July 1997- 30 June 1998) Please read the information on the enclosed letter.
