And we are anticipating what God is doing... Right now, my husband is leading worship and praise meetings in the very south of Korea - and he will urge the congregation to pray for this event... Everyone here in Korea is anticipating and somewhat nervous....- but Christians pray! On Sunday, 4th June, several 10-Thousands of Koreans gathered besides the Han River (opposite the government building in Yoido) and prayed for this summit. We also gave sacrificially towards the poverty in N-Korea. ALL denonmiations were present (the first time ever!). The leaders demonstrated ONE-ness as they came to the front and prayed... My husband was asked to lead the worship time and had therefore chances to challenge the people for repentance and humbling themselves. They responded in a way that greatly touched my heart: ALL of them bowed down to their knees and prayed fervently...That was a powerful picture! Several 10-Thousand people on their knees (in the dust), praying loudly together... When the worship song was started: "If my people will humble themselves bevore me, then I will hear from heaven.....", many were in tears. Afterwards a pastor (boldly) spoke up that we cannot pray for unification of N-S Korea if WE are divided among ourselves in churches! The last 20 minutes were dedicated to ongoing unified prayer for the nation, for the summit and for the poor in N-Korea. We prayed in ONE loud cry to God. Our guest speakers from England (who had ministered in our midst for the past 2 weeks) were praying together with everyone, too, and eventhough they could not understand a word, they felt that the Spirit of the Lord was moving among us. They were moved by the prayers of the people and said that God's presence was felt in a special way... We are not worthy to expect a miracle, for we need to repent first as a nation, as a people, as the Body of Christ... But we trust in God's MERCY... But there was repentance and prayer from peoples hearts....and it is PEOPLE that God hears - not programs. It is LEADERS that God holds responsible - before organizations! It is UNITY in the Body of Christ that gives glory to God... May we be found faithful in love and obedience to God. May our lives show love and unity towards one another... and may our CHANGED hearts change the world! HERE IS THE PLEA FOR PRAYER: "This is an urgent prayer request to people I know who will care: The North Korean leader (Kim Jong Il) and the South Korean leader (Kim Dae Jung) are meeting June 13-15 (Tues-Thurs) for the first peace summit EVER between the two countries. THIS IS AMAZING! The reason why this summit has HUGE POTENTIAL: 1. North Korea and South Korea have never had a peace summit before (in over 40 years). 2. The NK leader, Kim Jong Il, recently went to Bejing to meet China's leader and see China's reforms firsthand. He reportedly was quoted as saying that China's (market) reforms were successful. This was his first trip outside of North Korea, EVER. And the first time, a North Korea leader has looked favorable on market reforms. 3. Other countries (China, Japan, Russia and the U.S.) are supportive of this summit. And now, here's WHY WE MUST PRAY: 1. North Korea is the most closed and perhaps the most oppressive government in the world. Hundreds of thousands are wasting away in concentration camps. 2. Between 2 to 4 million North Koreans have died of starvation and starvation-related causes over the past 5 years (that's between 10 and 20% of the total population!). This suffering needs to stop. 3. The 22 million people of North Korea are totally lost without Jesus, but currently no missionaries, no literature, no nothing is allowed in. WHAT TO PRAY FOR: 1. Wisdom for the two leaders. 2. The spirit of division and darkness to be broken over NK. 3. That some major agreements would be reached (ie., opening North Korea's markets and borders, arms and troop reduction, etc.) .... and most of all, that God would be glorified. Please, join me in prayer and if the Lord burdens your heart, please fast on Wednesday (June 12). God bless. .
