Emily ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Announcing CampusQ -- New E-mail Subscription List for UW Queer Community From: Lee James, Tina Kotek, Michael Johnson, Jason Kuo, and Al Fritz Hi Everyone, We've just started CampusQ, an e-mail subscription list, to distribute informations that are important to the UW queer community. The intent of this list is different from that of BOHGOF. The discussions on this list will be more political in nature, with the emphasis on the UW community. And unlike BOHGOF, which caters mostly to graduate students, CampusQ is open to all students, staffs, and faculties. By creating an e-mail exchange on the important campus queer issues, we hope to foster a sense of local activism that will pressure the administration to implement the urgently-needed queer-friendly policies. Please take a few minutes to read the mission statement of the list and decide whether you might be interested in subscribing. The list is unmoderated and only the owners (Lee, Tina, and Jason) will have access to the list of subscribers. To subscribe, send an e-mail to with nothing in the subject. In the text, type: subscribe campusq For example, subscribe campusq Jane Doe. IT IS IMPORTANT TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME. Otherwise an error message will be generated. More information will follow after you subscribe to the list. For further questions/comments, please address to either Lee or Jason . And please forward this message to people/e-mail list that would be appropriate. We look forward to seeing you all on the list -- Sincerely, Lee, Michael, Tina, Jason & Al ------------------------------- CampusQ Mission Statement: CampusQ is a virtual environment designed to promote communication about Queer (gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender) issues on the U.W. campus. It is a place to explore ideas, to share information, to pool resources, and to facilitate activism. We recognize that there are numerous queer groups on campus, and we strive to make CampusQ a place which unites them all. We intend to work on issues both proactive (building community and initiating programs) and reactive (responding to events as they arise). We also specifically acknowledge women and individuals of racial and ethnic minorities sharing a situational kinship with, or having intersecting identification with or perspectives on, queer issues. We expect that the Campus Queers will be able to advance their causes by engaging in productive dialogue, by coordinating the efforts of particular groups, and by drawing on the resources of the community. .
