My colleagues and I at the Research Data Assistance Center (ResDAC) will be holding a 3-day workshop entitled "Conducting Research with Medicaid Claims Data" on October 18-20, 2000, at UCLA in Los Angeles. This participatory, hands-on workshop will familiarize attendees with how to access and use Medicaid administrative data for health services, health policy or epidemiological research. Attendees will learn about and use actual Medicaid data to answer representative research questions while drawing upon their own research, analytic and/or clinical skills. This will be the third time we offer "Conducting Research with Medicaid Claims Data". Previous attendees include researchers, analysts, and practitioners from the University of North Carolina, University of Washington, Brown University, Rutgers University, Research Triangle Institute, Grady Health System, Oregon Medical Assistance Program, and the Centers for Disease Control. These attendees particularly praised the workshop's hands-on data segments and explanation of the Medicaid data request process. ResDAC is a consortium of universities contracted by the Health Care Financing Administration to assist researchers in accessing and working with Medicaid & Medicare data. "Conducting Research with Medicaid Claims Data" will be led by an experienced team of Medicaid researchers from the Morehouse School of Medicine, University of Minnesota, and Mathematica Policy Research. The workshop will take place in a state-of-the-art, multimedia classroom at UCLA's Pacific Southwest Regional Medical Library. For a more detailed description of this workshop or for registration information, please visit our web site at http://resdac.umn.edu/HCFA102m.htm. Please e-mail me if you have specific questions about the workshop content. Feel free to forward this message to interested colleagues. Thank you for your consideration.
