Geospatial enhancements include the FIPS county codes and in the future will include Hydrological Unit Codes for river basins. The creators of this database would very much appreciate your looking at the records and giving them some feedback about the content and form. The BRD, USGS is particularly interested in knowing whether or not other organizations and/or libraries would be interested in using their taxonomic information to populate records. If so, they have indicated their willingness to create a format that can be cut and pasted efficiently into records. The taxonomic information is currently being place in the 754 field. The technical view of these records can be seen by typing "tag" in the command line. The difficulty of common versus scientific name has been a problem for catalogers from many years. This new use of the 754 field offers a potential solution from an authoritative source.
