Are you concerned about adequately protecting this information? If so, 
here is an opportunity to review sample policies, procedures, and 
practices that can help you be more assured of the safety of your health 
information. A session on "Confidentiality and Security in an Electronic 
Environment" will be presented at the Joint Conference on Health in 
Spokane on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at 3 pm. 

New federal regulations will affect all of us that hold health 
information. These regulations are one of the requirements of the Health 
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) that help set a 
national standard of confidentiality and security for this information. 
Come hear about examples of policy and security approaches that will 
better protect this vital resource. We would appreciate your help in 
redistributing this information and encouraging each agency with staff 
attending the Joint Conference be sure to send someone to this important 
session.
