I received this address from Colin, who told me that you are a group that meets regularly to discuss the meaning of life. I would like to advertise to you a non-fiction book club that my roommate and I starting up this fall. We both have backgrounds in science as well as philosophy and are interested largely in the intersection of the two pursuits, for example, the ethics of medicine, theories that deal with evolution and variations thereof, and the far-reaching philosophical implications of the numerous ground-breaking scientific findings of this century. We are also interested in topics in the social sciences and the humanities, so really we're fairly flexible. We just want to read and study the pertinent information on the topics mentioned above and discuss it with others in attempt to better understand it and to gain a wider perspective. If you are interested and/or you have any questions or concerns you'd like to discuss with one of us, please e-mail me back at this address, ALM_PECHAA@carleton.edu, or call us at 320-9858 and ask about the book club. Both of us are fairly recent graduates of Carleton College in Minnesota. We have posted signs in bookstores downtown and on Capitol Hill as well as in the U-District, and plan to meet the first Thursday of each month in the Elliot Bay Bookstore Cafe in Pioneer Square. The first meeting, for which no books are assigned is on Thursday, September 11, at 8 p.m. (it's an exception to the first Thursday rule). You are welcome to just show up then or any other meeting thereafter. Hope to see you there! Anne-Marie 320-9858 .
