The current national crisis not only highlights this duty, but also provides an opportunity to reflect on how we might do it better. Are we focusing our citizenship education efforts only on students preparing to enter careers in public service? Should we integrate citizenship education into the general undergraduate curriculum? Is there a special role to be played by programs that educate future teachers and media professionals? During this forum, panelists and audience members will discuss current initiatives they are involved in, and generate ideas for the future. Panelists include University of Washington faculty Michael McCann (Political Science), John Gastil (Speech Communication), Robert Howard (Education), and moderator Julia Gold (Law). The event is co-sponsored by the Forum at the Evans School, University of Washington, and the Council on Public Legal Education. .
