After close to a decade on this list I think I've finally figured it out. Things like GRE scores aren't made into a big deal because we don't want to offend the other faculties at meetings! On numerous occasions in the distant past I've mentioned that Classics needs a marketing arm; now it appears what is really needed is for the 'leadership' to take a few basic marketing courses.
