Yes, you may be right.  Still, this movement is also known with precision.

If I could find time I ought to contact him, and I might also compile a list
of relevant astronomical references I can think of, but there are others not
hard to find who are working in the history of astronomy and who are far
better qualified than I.  My field is (or until recently was) variable
stars.
