The King County Council Regional Policy Committee is planning for a "Livable Communities" Conference for the region in fall of 1998. There are a number of community activists and professionals involved in planning for the conference, but no significant UW involvement. Planners have done some initial brainstorming, but would welcome new participants. Thus far, "livability" is being defined broadly. Planners are looking for ways to tie together/refine the focus for themes ranging from community infrastructure, human services, civic involvement, and diversity. Volunteers might get involved with subcommittees involved in: o program o logistics o marketing o fundraising The next meeting of the Livability Conference Fair will take place on: Monday, January 12 11:30 - 1:00 p.m. Horiuchi Conference Room 12th Floor, King County Courthouse 516 Third Avenue, Seattle For further information, contact Mike Reed at 206-296-1627 or Debra Ross at 206-296-0333 (with the King County Council). .
