ITALIC is an information system on Italian lichens searchable on-line,
which organizes information from several databases and archives. Starting
from 2002, the "virtual herbarium" is available. It contains more than 2500
pictures of ca. 1500 species. Due to the wide distributional ranges of
lichens, and to their well-known importance as bioindicators, info from
ITALIC could be of interest also outside Italy.
