Passing mention of a reading of the "Silliad", a.k.a. "My Big Fat Greek War" got me thinking ... is Classics perceived as being largely an 'American' discipline? Given the visceral 'anti Americanism' which seems to pervade Canadians in positions of indoctrination, could a perception of Classics as 'American' account for its almost invisibility on this side of the 49th?
