The WBCA is up for reauthorization, and there are a number of groups lobbying to rescind the act, or change the provisions so that it will be more difficult or impossible to distinguish wild caught birds from captive bred ones. The Association for Parrot Conservation is particularly interested in international evidence that the US law is promoting conservation outside of the US. For more information, e-mail me and I will send the original request, or contact: Ellen Paul University of Maryland Graduate Program in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology toodles@wam.umd.edu (for Dr. Enrique Bucher, President, Association for Parrot Conservation) .
