Her application include a promissory note signed by the student which indicates an interest rate and ten year payment schedule. They do not claim her as a dependent for tax purpose. In my view she is considered a dependent since she is not responsible for the majority of her support. She argues that the loan is not the same as financial assistance in cash or in kind.
