Brian,

It is a pitty that you will leave the list. I *do* understand how you
badly you feel about this list, as recently it has been almost only
adverts and no scientific discussion. Perhaps that is the fault
of all of us who are reading the list but not posting... Anyway, in my
opinion leaving it is allowing the advert posters to win. It is the same
as telling the postman not to deliver any more mail for you just because
you receive junk mail... Besides, I've startded receiving advert junk 
email which doesn't even come through this (or other) list; so the 
problem will not go away.
