I have an eight grader who is interested in seeing if diet
supplements/herbal medicines available over the counter will cause
feminization (changes in the sex ratios of a breeding population). He's
thinking of using Drosophila as his test system.  I know that feminization
is an endocrine related phenomena in higher animals,  but am unsure if
Drosophila has the right hormonal makeup to be a good animal model.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
