Major interests of our group include the formation of specialized chromatin structures and their effect on gene expression, and genes that control the transposition of retrotransposons that target chromosome ends. Several genes have been identified that appear to be important for the formation of chromatin structures in telomere regions. The products of these genes and their interaction need to be characterized. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences is a part of the National Institutes of Health located in North Carolina. With three major universities close by, there are ample opportunities for seminars and interactions with other labs. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent degree in genetics, molecular or cell biology or a related field. Experience with Drosophila would be very helpful. While candidates with less than five years of postdoctoral experience or eligible, recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
