This problem appears to be most severe in D. phalerata cultures. We have tried to clear the problem up using mold inhibitors in the food, e.g. nipigin, with little success and are currently experimenting with others such as nipi-stat etc. Crystal-violet food has also proved ineffective thus far ... Other than (very) frequent transferral of flies to fresh medium, i.e. every 1-2 days, has anybody out there got any suggestions as to how we may overcome this particularly virulent mold?? Thanks for your time. T. O'Connell Pabto@west-01.novell.leeds.ac.uk .
