We have found that the traditional news group software is quite archaic and difficult to use. The only reason why I managed to do it at this end was because I found a Java based open-source package that allow me to set up the entire server and groups in less than 10 minutes. One of the guys here who has been an comp administrator in the past and seems to know his stuff refused to go near the news server software because of the complexities involved. I've emailed biosci to ask for details on how one could go about converting metabolic-reg to a moderated group. If it turns out to be an involved and arduous process just to set up the software, let alone moderate, as most Linuxoid software seems to be, then I won't attempt it, the software may only run on a Linux machines anyway, we shall see.
