We are focusing on the role of transcriptional corepressors, dCtBP and others, in short-range repression. This type of repression establishes enhancer autonomy in complex gene loci, and creates characteristic patterns of gene expression, such as the seven-stripe patterns of eve and hairy expression. Yeast two-hybrid assays, in vitro binding assays, protein purification, creation of transgenic flies, in situ hybridization, and RNAi in flies and/or tissue cultures will be employed. Ref) 1. Applicants must have either a Ph.D. or MD and less than five years of postdoctoral experience. For the technician position, a degree is required in a field of biology, or an equivalent combination of education. Additional laboratory experience in Drosophila genetics or molecular biology is preferred. Applicants should send a cover letter, a CV, and names of 3 referees to the address below (e-mail is preferred).
