He's going to follow the discussion on this group so let's see what people have to say. My initial feeling is that some degree of explanation can be had from Kacser & Beeby 74. We are probably limited (by physiological feasibility) to very few ways in which to carry out B-ox, but if these pathways do share a common ancestry, why the different cofactors?
