WELLCOME TRUST FUNDED POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT:

COURTSHIP BIOLOGY OF THE FRUITFLY DROSOPHILA MELANOGASTER

RA1A £15735 - £23651.

This is a three year project funded by The Wellcome Trust, involving the

molecular, genetic, developmental and behavioural dissection of the
fruitless (fru) gene of Drosophila (see Cell 87: 1079-1089, 1996). This
postdoctoral fellow will preferably have a strong background in
molecular neurobiology to study courtship biology of the fruitfly
Drosophila melanogaster. She/he will be preferably acquainted with
molecular neurobiology methods; genetic crosses involving
behavioral/neurological mutants; cloning, analysis, and manipulation of
genes influencing courtship behavior; manipulation of
molecularly-generated transgenic strains of Drosophila including
neuroanatomical and behavioural techniques.
