(1997) Genome Research 7:974-985, and described at http://darwin.mbb.sfu.ca/imbb/dbaillie/cosmid.html. In fact, the cosmid DNA used was kindly provided by Diane Janke and David Baillie, originally from the Genome Sequencing Consortium. Students here have confirmed the presence of cosmids in the strains by PCR with cosmid-specific primers essentially as previously described (Janke et al, 1997). At present, we have transgenic lines containing these cosmids from LGII: C54A12 F12A10 T16D1 (We also have a strain that may contain EEED8, but do not have primers for the little-known (?) cosmid vector pHC79.) These strains will eventually be sent to the CGC, however, if you are interested in one immediately, we could send it on request. The students hope that you may find these useful. They have also toiled away at various analyses of this and nearby cosmid sequences, some of which will be made available soon through the class home page http://www.acusd.edu/~cloer/bio182.html.
