The tasks of the workshop are to introduce participants to hands-on computer simulations of small neuronal networks, to realize the ability of such models to explain selected experimental results, and to provide a vision of future uses of models and simulations in providing understanding of function in large neuronal networks, as in the brain. Enrollment is limited and is by application. COSTS No tuition is charged. Housing and meals will be provided, at no cost to participants, at St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM. Housing will be in single dormitory rooms with shared bathrooms. Some travel funding is available. HOW TO APPLY Provide a current resume with publications list (if any), a statement of research interests and comments about why this workshop would be beneficial to you, and two letters of recommendation from scientists who know your work. Online: You may submit your materials using our online form at http://www.santafe.edu/mathannounce03.html. Online application is strongly encouraged. Postal mail: Include your e-mail address and fax number, and specify whether you wish to apply for a travel scholarship. Do not bind your application materials in any manner. Send application materials to: Neuron to Network Workshop Santa Fe Institute 1399 Hyde Park Road Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501 USA Applications must be postmarked or electronically submitted by: March 21, 2003. Women, minorities, and students from developing countries are especially encouraged to apply. For further details about the workshop, please e-mail mathmodel@santafe.edu or visit http://www.santafe.edu/sfi/education/mathematicalmodels/indexmath03.html. This workshop is funded by a grant by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of The National Institutes of Health (NIH). .
