If I remember correctly, it's hard to calculate terminal velocities of highly asymmetric objects like disks because of chaotic tumbling. And they're not even flexible like a cow. All in all I think there's ample material here to write a proposal for a research contract from DARPA (the Defense-Department agency that funds blue-sky R&D of potential military application).
