Students study six taught modules and then undertake a research project. Web-based options make these modules available to those wishing to study part-time. Participants communicate with the course tutors and with each other using bulletin boards and chat rooms for on-line tutorials. They also have access to the Distance Learning Service provided by the University Library. We now offer eight taught modules, which may be studied individually, or as part of a formal qualification. The modules follow two themes, Bioinformatics and Computer Science. The Bioinformatics modules are: Introduction to Molecular Biology for Computer Scientists Introduction to Bioinformatics (Bioinformatics 1) Post Genomic Bioinformatics (Bioinformatics 2) Theory and Applications in Bioinformatics The computing modules are: C for Bioinformatics Java Biocomputing Object-oriented analysis and design with UML The module fee for 2002/2003 is £600.
