Sufficient (yet concise) information will be provided so that detailed domain knowledge is not a requirement for entry. Details and data will be on-line at the end of May. The 2001 KDD Cup will challenge researchers to tackle a database with multiple relational tables. Data also will be available in a single table ("flat file"), for those who do not wish to do their own conversion or to use a multi-relational algorithm. The flat file of course will come with the usual risk of loss of some structural information that could cost accuracy.
