It covers a brief overview of physics of image formation and characteristics of medical imaging receptors and human visual system. Conventional and new techniques for image restoration and segmentation will be discussed. A comprehensive overview of digital subtraction radiography, including 2D and 3D image registration techniques, will be offered. Such techniques have gained significant interest among clinicians and imaging scientists. Various experimental and clinical images are used to demonstrate the application and impact of the techniques discussed in this course. The course includes numerous pre-computed and real-time examples of algorithms applied to a selected image set. Prerequisites: Basic background with digital image/signal processing, computer vision and graphics will be required. Familiarity with algorithm design, computer programming and fundamental concepts in biomedical sciences, not required, but helpful. ************************************************************************ .
