Join an international, interdisciplinary team utilizing a combination of molecular biology and biophysics to study the role of synaptic proteins in the control of neurotransmitter release. We are looking for motivated individuals who are keen to push the frontiers of understanding of the mechanisms of calcium-regulated exocytosis. The studies will utilize transgenic mice (Nils Brose, Max Planck Institute, Germany), with a focus on three different cell preparations: 1) the synapse of theCalyx of Held (Gerard Borst, Univ. of Amsterdam, Netherlands), 2) cochlear hair cells (Thomas Parsons, Univ. of Pennsylvania, USA), 3) adrenal chromaffin cells (Robert Chow, Univ. of Southern California, USA). Techniques to monitor vesicle behavior include conventional post-synaptic recordings, patch clamp capacitance measurements, amperometry, total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy, and multiphoton microscopy. You will have experience in electrophysiology, imaging, or molecular biology. Please send your CV and the names and addresses of three referees to Dr. Thomas Parsons, Univ. of Pennsylvania, 382 West Street Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348 (thd@vet.upenn.edu). Accepted postdoctoral fellows will have a choice as to where they choose to work. Closing date: June 30, 2000 or until positions are filled. --------------EFB92A8C7A4A7B5F955FF377 Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Four postdoctoral positions, funded by the Human Frontiers Science Foundation,  available from August 2000.
