Rather than send these directly though..I thought I'd write to the newsgroup as I think it would be good for the community to build access to digital images (like the arabidopsis community already has) because (amongst other reasons)- it saves money on film...stores easier...copies easily ..is (almost) instantly transferrable..can be labelled and anotated.. and DOESN'T take much storage space for reasonable quality pictures that can be used for comparison/screening of potential lines of interest. For anybody who is unfamiliar with computer graphics...the procedures for getting pictures onto your machine are relatively easy. Packages to do this can be obtained FREE...OR for minimal payment from a variety of sources for whatever machine you've got. Most places have scanners to input pictures into files suitable for sending by E-mail..some have digitisers from video..and images can be grabbed from sources such as confocal microscopes FOR FREE. I emphasise the free, because the cost of commercial packages CAN be high. If anyone would like a sample enhancer trap line picture (sorry the line itself has gone) or even a confocal picture..please email me. Sean .
