About Connecting to the Internet This section of the WELLgopher is largely inspired by Susan Estrada's *Connecting to the Internet*, a "buyer's guide" published by O'Reilly & Associates. Half of her guide is dedicated to assessing one's networking needs, choosing a network provider, and deciding between dial-up and dedicated line access. The other half of her book reprints Peter Kaminski's PDIAL list and her own DLIST, two extensive sources of connectivity providers. We point to the current version of the PDIAL list. The version of the DLIST in *Connecting to the Internet* remains the most current, and we carry an electronic copy here. You can see if a more current version has become available by sending any e-mail message to dlist@ora.com. For DLIST providers that offer information via ftp, gopher, or telnet, we provide a link to that repository. And we've also put links in to both versions of the nixpub list, a compilation of public access unix sites around the world; most of these are not true Internet sites, but if all you're looking for is e-mail and access to USENET, these are worth taking a look at.
