PACIFICA MISSION STATEMENT

Lew Hill, the Quaker conscientious objector and news broadcaster on
Washington, D.C., commerical radio, was the driving force behind the
establishment of Pacifica Radio--born in 1949 when it came on the air
with a vision which to this day remains unique in radio broadcasting:

*to promote cultural diversity and pluralistic community expression;

*to contribute to a lasting understanding between individuals of all
 nations, races, creeds and colors;

*to promote freedom of the press and serve as a forum for various
 viewpoints; and

*to maintain an independent funding base.
