ECHOES: A Nightly Music Soundscape For More Complete & Graphic Echoes Information Point your browser towards the Echoes Website http://www.pri.org/echoes ECHOES, is a daily two hour music soundscape, distributed by Public Radio International and broadcast on over 130 radio stations from Maine to California. With host John Diliberto, a writer for Audio, Jazziz, Billboard, Downbeat and Pulse magazines, ECHOES brings a wide array of styles together, from acoustic to electronic, jazz to space music, the avant-garde to rock. ECHOES is a sound that is cross-cultural and trans-millennial, merging cultures and forms, technology and tradition, the ancient past and the possible future. In addition to the many recordings heard on ECHOES, we also produce daily artist features ranging from modern music figures like Andreas Vollenweider, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, and Mickey Hart to little known composers such as Dead Can Dance, Steve Roach and The Orb as well as popular artists like Kate Bush and Enya. ECHOES also produces Living Room Concerts, live performances recorded in musician's homes or studios and broadcast on ECHOES. Concerts thus far have included Mark Isham, Patrick O'Hearn, Robert Fripp, Suzanne Ciani, Nightnoise, R. Carlos Nakai, Sheila Chandra, Adrian Legg, Loreena McKennitt and Michael Hedges. Several recordings have been spun off of these concerts including the title track to Steve Roach's World's Edge, and four pieces on the latest Happy Rhodes CD, The Keep. We encourage musicians to send their music for broadcast consideration, but be advised that CDS are best. We rarely play cassettes or DAT. We also publish a carriage list, available via e-mail, a playlist available on The WELL and on the Internet via gopher. ECHOES also produces the Echodisc catalog, a mail-order source for the music heard on ECHOES. ECHOES has also begun a World Wide Web page, with the Echodisc catalog, playlists, stations & times, biographies and music information.
