Brief Summary as of August 9, 1996

The GOP decided to keep the Medicaid block grant bill separate from the 
welfare reform bill.  

This decision essentially ended any serious discussion of the 
Medicaid block grant for the remainder of this Congressional session.

Therefore, we do not expect any developments on the Medicaid block grant 
in  the foreseeable future.
