Welcome to CHisPA Center for Hispanic Policy and Advocacy Located at 421 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, RI 02907 Juanita Sanchez Multiservice Center The mission of the Center for Hispanic Policy and Advocacy (CHisPA) is to lead and influence change that improves the quality of life for Latinos in Rhode Island. The Juanita Sanchez Multiservice Center brings together non-profit service agencies to provide comprehensive services to low-income disadvantaged individuals, and serves as a locus for activities of grassroots community groups. CHisPA works with community-based organizations and educational institutions, federal, state, and local governments, foundations and corporations to improve opportunities for Latinos and other minority groups. Our services include: * Information and Referral Services * Policy Analysis, Research and Advocacy * Community Education on Prevailing Issues * Leadership Training Programs * Technical Assistance to Emerging Local Groups * Leadership in the areas of Health Access and Education Nuestras Ra’ces - Our Roots The Center for Hispanic Policy and Advocacy (CHisPA) is a private, non-profit organization which evolved in 1991 from a comprehensive needs assessment for the Latino community conducted by the Hispanic Social Services Association of Rhode Island (HSSA). This study showed that there was a dire need for centralized services and strong advocacy activities for Hispanic at all levels of policy making. CHisPA works to build collaborative partnerships with governmental, community, and private groups to create economic, educational, and social opportunities for Latinos. Centro Juanita S‡nchez de Servicios Multiples / Juanita S‡nch Multiservice Center With support from the City of Providence, CHisPA operates the Juanita Sa‡nchez Center, a home for six organizations which provide meetin space for a variety of organizations which provide an array of services to disadvantaged clients. Today our partners includes: Childhood Lead Action Project, Progreso Latino, Providence Educational Reform Coalition, SER-Jobs for Progress, and Multicultural Consulting Services of New England. We are proud to receive support from the City of Providence, the National Council of La Raza, Rhode Island Foundation, Haymarket Foundation, the United States Departments of Education and Health Services, as well as individual donations. .
