Controls machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for
human consumption and industrial use. Controls equipment to
regulate flow, adds chemicals to water and tests water samples.

RESIDENCY:        No requirement        RECIPROCITY:      Yes EDUCATION AND     Effective July 1, 1993.
   EXPERIENCE:    Person responsible for and supervising
                  treatment activities must hold certificate
                  appropriate for that facility or higher grade.
                  Class VSS Facility:  Have 6 months operating
                  experience in very small water system or
                  higher.
                  Grade I Treatment:  Meet educational
                  requirements satisfactory to the Advisory
                  Committee and demonstrate ability to operate
                  water supply facility with limited supervision.
                  Grade II Treatment:  Hold grade IT certificate
                  with full time employment in treatment of
                  drinking water for one year after
                  certification. Grade III Treatment:  Have Grade
                  IIT certificate and employment as above for two
                  years after certification. Grade IV Treatment: 
                  Hold Grade IIIT certificate and employment as
                  Grade III for one year after certification.
                  NOTE:  For alternate requirements, consult
                  licensing agency.R.I. EXAMINATION: Written

RENEWAL:          Yes, every three years, must meet continuing
                  education requirements.
