Lays out, fabricates, installs and maintains piping in steam, hot
water and heating systems. Fire protection sprinkler fitter does
similar work but in fire protection systems.  

AGE:              18 years or older

CITIZENSHIP:      No requirement

RESIDENCY:        No requirement

RECIPROCITY:      NoEDUCATION AND     Apprentice registration:
   EXPERIENCE:      No educational requirement.
                  Journeyperson license:
                    Five years of practical experience working
                    for licensed pipefitter (or fire protection
                    sprinkler) and have registered with the
                    licensing agency before starting training.
                  Master license:
                    Hold Journeyperson's license for one year or
                    longer and complete 10,000 hours of related
                    experience.
                  NOTE:  For alternate requirements, consult the
                    licensing agency.

R.I. EXAMINATION: Written for Master (except mechanical
                  contractor) and Journeyperson.
