Prepares dead human remains for burial or disposal. Maintains the
funeral establishment and sells funeral service merchandise to
the public. May counsel and comfort relatives and friends,
prepare casket and transport the deceased for services and
burial. 

AGE:           18 years or older

CITIZENSHIP:   Not required.  If foreign born, must submit proof
               of legal entry into the United States.

RESIDENCY:     Required

RECIPROCITY:   No EDUCATION AND  Be a high school graduate or equivalent. After 1/1/96
   EXPERIENCE:   have an associate degree, or equivalent of 60 
                 semester hours from an accredited college or university,
                 or be enrolled in an approved school of mortuary science.
               After 1/1/96, have graduated from a school of mortuary
                 science accdredited by the American Board of Funeral
                 Service Education, Inc.
               Have completed a registered funeral director/embalmer
                 internship of at least one year.
               Be of good morel character.

R.I. EXAM:     Funeral director and embalmer portion of written
                 examination of the Conference of Funeral Service
                 Examining Boards.
               Practical examination.
