Rhode Island Occupational Information Coordinating Committee 1995 ENVIRONMENTAL LEAD INSPECTOR Responsible for overall planning and implementation of environmental lead inspections in accordance with the Rhode Island Rules and Regulations for Lead Poisoning Prevention [R23-24.6-PB]. Inspectors may also employ certified Environmental Lead Inspector Technicians and Technicians-in- Training to assist with these activities. AGE: None specified. However, OSHA regulations and experience requirements would effectively eliminate anyone under 18 years of age. CITIZENSHIP: No requirement RESIDENCY: No requirement RECIPROCITY: No EDUCATION AND Successful completion of a forty hour Rhode EXPERIENCE: Island approved lead inspector training course; and radiation safety training appropriate to the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer(s) used by the applicant; and At least one of the following: Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or other professional certification specified by the Director; or Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, physical or biological science and at least 1 year of experience performing environmental lead inspections; or high school diploma or GED and three years of experience performing environmental lead inspections. NOTE: Three years experience shall consist of physically conducting and preparing all reports for a minimum of 75 comprehensive lead inspections (i.e. average of 25 unique inspections per year in a three year period.) R.I. EXAM: Written and Practical RENEWAL: Annual. Requires successful completion of Rhode Island approved eight hour annual review course.
