Bucktooth 0.1 public release 2 (July 2001)

Public release 2 fixes a subtle security hole in PR1. All else is
identical. If you are using PR1, please switch to this version *now*.

This is a very, very scruffy hack of Bucktooth into a form that can be
used by outside server administrators. It is *NOT* a polished, end-user
product. If you don't know how to hack Perl, do NOT use it. There are
probably a billion security holes in it, and no doubt about a trillion
bugs. YMMV, CYA and pregnancy may result if improperly positioned.

It is wholly original code and there is not a scrap of the original UMN
gopherd in it. This of course means different things to different people
...

You must have:

	* Perl 5
	* inetd or xinetd (better)
	* Unix (so far tested only on AIX)
	* half-a-brain

I don't like GPL because I believe it inadequately protects people from having
a buck made off their hard work that they meant to be freely distributed. My
own license guidelines are included. If you intend to distribute Bucktooth,
or intend to distribute a derivative gopher server based on Bucktooth, it is
imperative you read it, and a darn good idea even if you don't intend to do
either.

The installation directions are best explained by

	gopher://gopher.floodgap.com/1/buck/

but in short, pick configure or configure.xinetd, run it and follow the
directions like so:

	% perl configure

To modify your xinetd or inetd configuration files, you must be root.
