Short: Reads text-clips and stores them as input-events Author: Joerg van de Loo Uploader: JoergLoo@aol.com Version: 2.42 Type: util/cdity Requires: OS 2 Kurz: Liest Textausschnitte und konvertiert diese zu Eingabe-Ereignissen Transmitter is a program that will allow you to paste or append text-strings into almost any Intuition-object that interacts with user-inputs. The main play field of Transmitter is to read text-clips from the clipboard device and to convert these text-strings back into input events - ready to use by these already mentioned Intuition-objects. For example, you have copied a text-string using your favourite text-editor. This text-string is normally stored as text-clip under the name "0" in the clipboard device. Transmitter is now able to read this text-clip and convert each character of this text-string back into an input-event. If you have for example a console window open, you can paste this converted text-string into this console window, by means of Transmitter supported key-stroke. I'm using Transmitter mostly to paste texts into Intuition-objects that do not originally support the paste command: e.g. really old programs and the basic Intuition string and number gadgets. Transmitter has got also a so called AppIcon which is shown on the Workbench - and which will allow you to drop an other icon over this AppIcon. Therewith Transmitter starts to convert this icon-name into input-events who can be directly pasted into other Intuition-objects. Of course the name of this icon will be saved by Transmitter to the clipboard, too, allowing further use e.g. with text-editors. If you are a programmer, you can send text-strings to Transmitter or receive them from Transmitter. I guess that similar programs already have been published - but I cannot remember their names, for example: "C. Scheppner" has written such a tool a long time ago - but please do not ask me how it had been called nor where to find it. Transmitter requires at least OS 2 and if available, utilizes OS 3.5 and later operating systems - in order to save the correct icon image. Currently I have only tested Transmitter under OS 3.0 and 3.9. If you encounter problems using Transmitter and you are able to fix them yourself, please do so and place the modified object and source files (combined as archive) directly over the top of this existing (Transmitter.lha). In the other case send me an email. It goes without saying that you are allowed to improve Transmitter although it is released as free-ware, otherwise I certainly would not have enclosed the source-code! By the way: All use is at your own risk. ============================== German / deutsch ============================== Nä, nä, deudsche Anleitunk liecht nich bei - muust Du schohn sälber schraiben!
