Short: The Ur-Quan Masters port Author: Fred Ford, Paul Reiche III, UQM open source team Uploader: jniemima@mail.student.oulu.fi (Juha Niemimäki) Type: game/misc Version: 0.4.0 Architecture: ppc-amigaos >= 4.0.0 This is an experimental "The Ur-Quan Masters" port. UQM is a huge space game (not 3D!), I don't even try to describe it any better since I have been playing so little it. It's based on StarControl 2. Known issues: - seems to be slow if started from the Ram disk. I recommend SFS or FFS with fs_plugin_cache. - if played in window mode, quitting from close gadget doesn't seem to kill Starcon2Main thread. (probably shows on the tasklist as "pthread 1". - I had some problems with paths but I think that this is finally working. I have tried different installations and no visible problems so far. (log.txt is being written when the game is ran, by the way). Please remember that the game is under development so there may be other issues as well. Visit the home page and check bug tracker and forums before reporting a problem, thank you! --- From the original readme file: You're looking at the readme for 'The Ur-Quan Masters', a volunteer project that intends to bring the classic game 'Star Control II' to modern systems. The program code that comprises 'The Ur-Quan Masters' was derived from code written by Toys for Bob, Inc. for the 3DO version of 'Star Control II', with their permission and encouragement. If you've got this file from the source tree, you can find everything you need to get started in INSTALL (INSTALL.mingw for Mingw) and doc/users/unixinstall.
