I know some may not like the idea, but how about when selecting a bbs having
a submenu of dial/edit popup.. with dial being default..

Alternative, add alt+e and alt+d to the toggle, used to having alt keys for 
modifiers in terminal programs since they aren't sent, and ctrl keys are, even 
though this isn't a point where ctrl keys are sent, more of a habit thing..
