Subj : Market Action To : All From : Paul Rogers Date : Tue Nov 25 2003 05:38 pm

I dropped a word yesterday, "We can't let the market run up, to provide
REASSURANCE before we decide it's safe to buy, reinforcing to our
decisions."

Today encouraging economic growth numbers were released. And the market
did little to nothing. Some think anticipation, or a leak, was behind
yesterday's strong move in prices. Volume was a little higher, but
still below average.

We have a holiday shortened week. I'd guess Wednesday and Friday will
be half-days, but I haven't heard. We should expect light volume all
week. But when the NYSE trading floor is running with a "skeleton crew"
you should expect moderate imbalances in buy or sell orders to be
magnified. If you're paying attention and can get your trades executed
electronically, you might be able to use this to a tactical advantage.
If the imbalance is to the Buy side, prices should rise more than they
ought. Use that situation to Sell. And on the flip side, maybe lower
prices will present a buying opportunity. Of course, to the extent the
big money houses on the Street have turned trading over to their
computers and software, things could stay pretty well balanced. I
haven't seen this as often as I used to. Since the market is basically
going nowhere now, and we're very near recent highs, it would more
important to react to a selling opportunity.

Timing Signals: I don't use or recommend timing signals, but they're
fun to watch. If I did though, well, I might use something like this.
(Be warned!! It tends to whipsaw around signal points!)
