I've actually done that - when I was a kid there was a tomcat out of sight 
meowing at a queen who got bored and wandered off, so I took over her end of 
the conversation.  He came trotting around the corner and discovered he had the 
right sex but the wrong species..  Couldn't help laughing my head off as he 
stalked off indignantly, muttering under his breath.
