I have attempted the following terms and still have slow ansi emulation with 
Sync systems :

xp telnet
98 telnet
mtelnet (under xp)
zoc (xp)
zmud (xp)

So I'm wondering if it isn't either a) xp's emulation or b) something with 
sync.

Any ideas out there?  I used the patch to get the colours back to true 
settings and all software has been used both "out of the box" and tweaked.
